All about this blog

Welcome, again, to this blog. By virtue of having set up this page, I have the honour of being the first to blog on it and setting the tone. This blog has been primarily set up to become a workspace for the leadership of the (currently) 13 African partners of TVE. We do, however, welcome opinions and views from the general public.

I’ll start with a quick introduction – Television for the Environment, African Partner Network (TVE-APN) is diverse group consisting of filmmakers, television broadcasters, and African film distributors who advocate environmental awareness, health, human rights, and other contemporary developmental issues affecting the African continent. The partners are spread through sub-Saharan Africa with current membership concentrated in Southern, East, and West Africa.

TVE, whom the APN are in partnership to, is a London based non-profit organisation working globally through their partners, like the APN, and with additional networks in Asia Pacific and Latin America. Other associate or affiliate TVE offices are in the United States, Italy and Japan. To find out more about TVE or their partners, just select and click the desired link on your right.

The APN generally has one representative member organisation per country, specifically because of potential infringements in partner distribution rights. They, the partners, are mostly non-profit organisations but also include commercial and public institutions – again, see the partner links listed on your right.

I have hopes that we (the APN) through this mode of communication will post a collage of thoughts on development, and eventually build a resource of information that will give insight into how media works in the African setting. The people whose views are expressed on this blog are those that work hands-on, in Africa, from grassroots level to broadcast or the big screen – in a worldwide partnership.

Happy blogging!

Enock Chinyenze
TVE, Regional Coordinator - Africa
